Catherine McGivney graduated from New York University School of Law in 1985 and practiced corporate and securities law in New York City until 1989. Since relocating to Chicago her principal areas of practice have been corporate and securities transactions, mergers and acquisitions, software licensing, technology law, and commercial real estate.

She has represented entrepreneurs, acquisition funds, software developers, Internet companies, manufacturing and retail enterprises, commercial banks and real estate developers in a wide variety of mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, private placements of debt and equity, technology licensing and consulting, financings, executive compensation, and real property transactions.
